Mugen Seiki MBX8TR 1/8 4WD Nitro Truggy Kit
Product Overview
The Mugen Seiki MBX8TR is a competition-oriented 1/8-scale 4WD nitro racing truggy designed for demanding off-road driving and racing. Developed from Mugen Seiki's experience in 1/8 off-road competition, the MBX8TR focuses on stability, rear traction, predictable handling, and improved performance over jumps and rough terrain.
The kit, identified as E2029, features revised suspension geometry, High Traction Differentials, a new four-shoe clutch, updated chassis components, and a redesigned body and wing package. It also provides numerous adjustment points so racers can adapt the truck to different track surfaces and conditions.

Suspension and Chassis Design
The MBX8TR is built around a suspension system designed for detailed race setup.
The new C and D suspension mounts use square inserts that provide additional adjustment for toe-in, anti-squat, and suspension geometry. The front and rear arms use impact-resistant material to help withstand the demands of off-road driving.
At the rear, the molded uprights incorporate CFRP plates for rear roll-center adjustment, giving racers another way to tune handling characteristics.
The front suspension receives a redesigned shock tower and upper arm mount with new pivot inserts. These changes provide additional geometry adjustment while maintaining a robust structure for racing.
Four-Shoe Clutch
One of the standout features of the MBX8TR is its new Mugen Seiki four-shoe clutch.
The clutch uses a 34 mm aluminum four-shoe flywheel with removable steel pins. Its spring-tension adjustment system allows the clutch engagement characteristics to be tuned according to the engine, track conditions, and driver's preference.
The kit includes:
Two carbon clutch shoes
Two aluminum clutch shoes
Four-shoe clutch spring
13T vented clutch bell
Aluminum flywheel
Additional clutch spring options are available separately for further tuning.
High Traction Differentials
The MBX8TR comes equipped with Mugen Seiki High Traction Differentials (HTD).
These differentials are designed to improve acceleration, traction, stability, and consistency, particularly when the truck is driven over uneven or bumpy sections of a track.
The kit uses updated internal sun gears along with:
10T bevel gears
46T conical gears
The manufacturer's listed standard differential oil setup is:
| Differential | Recommended Oil |
|---|---|
| Front | #10,000 |
| Center | #10,000 |
| Rear | #7,000 |
Shocks and Suspension Setup
The MBX8TR includes emulsion shock caps and revised rear springs. The standard setup supplied by Mugen Seiki includes:
| Position | Shock Oil | Spring | Piston | Anti-Roll Bar |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Front | #600 | Ø1.5 × L75 / 7.5T | Ø1.3 × 6H | Ø2.2 mm |
| Rear | #600 | Ø1.6 × L86 / 9T | Ø1.3 × 6H | Ø2.7 mm |
This setup gives racers a useful starting point while leaving plenty of room for changes based on track conditions, tires, driving style, and grip level.
Body and Aerodynamics
The MBX8TR uses Mugen Seiki's Flash Point body, designed to help lower the center of gravity while improving steering response and behavior during jumps and landings.
The lightweight, high-downforce rear wing is designed to provide additional rear stability and traction while allowing more airflow through the wing. This can be beneficial when running in windy conditions.
The rear wing mount has also been revised for improved durability and additional downforce adjustment.

Setup can be changed through suspension geometry, toe-in, anti-squat, roll center, caster, shock mounting, spring selection, shock oil, anti-roll bars, differential oils, clutch engagement, and other tuning parameters.
Mugen Seiki also provides setup documentation for the MBX8TR covering different track conditions and suspension configurations.
Important Product Notes
E2029 is the nitro-powered MBX8TR, not the electric MBX8TR ECO.
This product is an assembly kit and requires additional equipment before operation.
Engine, exhaust system, radio equipment, receiver battery, wheels, tires, inserts, fuel, and starting equipment should not be assumed included unless specifically stated by the seller.
The MBX8TR is intended for off-road use and competition-oriented setup.
Optional lightweight suspension arms and universal drive shafts are available separately.
Mugen Seiki states that specifications and kit contents may change as the product is improved.
Summary
The Mugen Seiki MBX8TR E2029 is a serious 1/8 4WD nitro racing truggy kit built for drivers who demand stability, traction, durability, and extensive setup control.
Its High Traction Differentials, adjustable suspension geometry, four-shoe clutch, revised chassis, Flash Point body, high-downforce wing, and updated braking and suspension components make it a strong platform for competitive off-road racing. The MBX8TR is particularly suited to experienced RC racers who want a highly tunable nitro truggy rather than a basic ready-to-run model.
