The Justrite Lithium-Ion Battery Charging Safety Cabinet 231703 is designed to provide a controlled environment for charging and temporarily storing lithium-ion batteries in workplaces. Built specifically around the fire, smoke, and thermal-runaway risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, the cabinet combines a rugged steel enclosure with Justrite's 9-layer ChargeGuard™ containment system.
The cabinet has a compact benchtop design and includes an 8-receptacle power strip, allowing multiple batteries to be charged within the cabinet. Justrite rates the cabinet for a 4 kWh Total Energy Containment Rating (TECR), with the allowable number of batteries depending on the energy capacity of the individual batteries.

Designed for Battery Charging
The 231703 is more than a storage enclosure. It incorporates an 8-outlet electrical power strip for charging lithium-ion batteries inside the cabinet. The cabinet is intended to be connected to a dedicated 120VAC/60Hz GFCI supply, using a minimum 14-gauge cord; the supply cord is not included.
A built-in axial fan provides crossflow ventilation during charging. If the internal temperature reaches 135°F, sliding doors automatically obstruct the fan opening, helping limit the release of smoke and gases during a thermal event.
