Designed to increase accessibility without compromising safety, this yellow cabinet is ideal for maintenance garages with limited floor space. It is available in a portable size with exterior dimensions of 35 height x 23.25 width x 18 in depth (889 height x 591 width x 457 mm depth). Model 891220 can store 12 gallon (45 l) of flammable liquids. It easily sits on countertops and fits under most workbenches. This model is constructed with a sturdy 18-gauge (1 mm) thick steel double-wall, with 1.5 In. (38 mm) of insulating air space for fire resistance. The fully welded, not riveted, construction holds the squareness of the unit for a longer life and offers greater protection in a fire since air gaps are reduced. The high-performance, self-closing door opens to 140 degrees. A patented, concealed self-close mechanism provides obstruction-free access to shelf space. Continuous piano hinges ensure the door closes smoothly every time. When used properly as designed, safety cabinets with self-closing doors shut automatically in case of a fire. The self-closing doors, under tension, are held open by using fusible links. Under fire conditions, when the ambient temperature reaches 165 F (74 C), the links melt and the safety cabinet's self-closing doors automatically swing shut. The self-latching system engages with three stainless steel bullet-slams located at the top, bottom, and center locations of the door. For replacement fusible links, order model 29988.
