Most green laser levels essentially over-clock inexpensive and plentiful red diodes to produce a green beam. It's a neat trick, but it drains batteries quickly. The true green diode in L2G+ uses less power and produces a bright green beam with less speckle than either a red laser diode, or a red diode modified to produce a green beam. Mounting the L2G+ on a TRI70 tripod makes leveling and plumping simple. Forget stacking boxes and shims to try to achieve the line height you want. Instead, simply set out an approximate height and then adjust the geared center column with the crank handle until you're right on target.
