One Power Head, Three Outdoor Applications
The XUX02SM1X5 uses a common power head for all three included attachments. This approach reduces the need to purchase and maintain separate motor units for trimming, pruning, and hedge maintenance.

13-Inch String Trimmer Attachment

Its rapid-loading bump-and-feed head is designed to simplify line replacement. Makita's loading process uses three basic steps: align, feed, and twist. The supplied trimmer head comes loaded with 0.080-inch twisted quiet line.

10-Inch Pole Saw Attachment
The EY402MP 10-inch pole saw attachment is designed for pruning branches that are difficult to reach from ground level.
Its 7-foot fixed length provides additional reach without requiring the operator to climb or use a separate extension pole. The pole saw uses a 10-inch guide bar and reaches a chain speed of up to 3,940 feet per minute (FPM).
This attachment is useful for routine pruning and branch removal around residential properties, landscaping projects, and other outdoor maintenance applications.
20-Inch Articulating Hedge Trimmer
The included 20-inch articulating hedge trimmer attachment is designed for shaping and maintaining hedges and shrubs.
Its double-sided blade and 135° working range allow the cutting head to be positioned for different working angles, including overhead and low-lying hedge applications. Makita rates the attachment at up to 4,000 strokes per minute (SPM).
The articulating design can make it easier to maintain different hedge profiles without having to reposition the entire power head.
Brushless Motor Performance
The XUX02Z power head uses Makita's BL™ Brushless Motor. The motor is electronically controlled to help optimize battery energy use and deliver appropriate performance for the selected attachment.
The power head provides two no-load speed settings:

- High: 0–7,000 RPM

18V LXT Cordless Operation
The kit includes one 18V LXT 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion battery (BL1840B) and an 18V LXT charger (DC18SD).
The cordless platform eliminates gasoline, oil mixing, engine exhaust, and pull-starting. It also allows the power head to be used in locations where running an extension cord would be inconvenient.
XPT™ Protection
The power head incorporates Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™). Makita describes XPT as a series of protective seals designed to help channel dust and water away from key internal components.
