The 110V model specifications are based on Laguna Tools' current product page and Revo 18|36 owner's manual.
1.5 HP Induction Motor
The Revo 18|36 110V uses a 1.5 HP, 1,725 RPM TEFC induction motor. The totally enclosed fan-cooled design is well suited to a woodworking environment where airborne dust and debris are common.
Laguna specifies a 15-amp breaker for the 110V configuration.
Electronic Variable-Speed Control
A Delta S1 VFD provides electronic spindle-speed control. The system accepts single-phase 110V input and produces three-phase output to the motor.
The lathe offers two selectable speed ranges:
- Low: 50–1,300 RPM
- High: 135–3,500 RPM
This broad speed range allows the machine to be adjusted for different workpiece diameters, turning operations, and finishing requirements.
The digital readout provides an RPM indication, making it easier to make controlled speed adjustments during operation.
18-Inch Swing Over Bed
The 18-inch swing over the bed provides substantial clearance for bowl turning and other large-diameter work.
The standard machine also provides 13.5 inches of swing over the banjo. With the optional 20-inch extension kit installed, Laguna specifies a maximum outboard swing of 32 inches.
36-Inch Capacity Between Centers
With 36 inches between centers, the Revo 18|36 can accommodate a wide range of longer spindle projects.
Typical applications include:
- Table legs
- Chair legs
- Bedposts
- Balusters
- Furniture components
- Decorative spindles
- Long turned shafts
- Other elongated wood projects
The headstock and tailstock can be positioned along the steel bed to accommodate different workpiece lengths.
Heavy-Duty Steel Bed
The machine uses an ASTM A36 steel bed, providing a rigid foundation for the headstock, tailstock, and tool rest.
The steel construction is paired with cast-iron headstock and tailstock components, giving the machine substantial mass and stability during turning.
Spindle & Indexing System
The spindle features a 1-1/4-inch x 8 TPI right-hand thread and an MT2 taper, allowing the use of compatible chucks, centers, faceplates, and other woodturning accessories.
A spring-loaded spindle lock helps with accessory changes and setup. The indexing system provides 14, 36, and 48 indexed positions, allowing workpieces to be positioned at repeatable rotational intervals for decorative layouts and specialized turning operations.
Tailstock
The cast-iron tailstock provides support for longer workpieces and uses an MT2 taper. The quill has 4.5 inches of travel, providing useful adjustment when positioning centers and other compatible accessories.
Laguna also specifies a self-ejecting tailstock design, helping make center removal more convenient.
12-Inch Tool Rest
The included 12-inch tool rest provides a stable support surface for turning tools. Its 1-inch tool-rest post fits the machine's tool-rest system.
The tool rest can be repositioned along the bed to accommodate different workpiece sizes and turning operations.
Ergonomic Controls
The Revo 18|36 features an angled control panel designed to keep the primary controls accessible during operation. A knurled control knob with rubber grip allows speed adjustments, while the digital display provides an RPM readout.
Headstock and tailstock locking handles are positioned toward the rear, helping keep them away from the operator's primary working area. Cam-lock handles provide firm positioning of machine components.
Quick Speed-Range Changes
The machine uses a poly-groove drive belt with easy access. A quick-release mechanism makes changing between the low- and high-speed ranges more convenient.
This allows the operator to select the appropriate mechanical speed range before using the electronic VFD control for final speed adjustment.
Vacuum Chuck Compatibility
The Revo 18|36 is designed to accept vacuum-chuck setups, providing another workholding option for appropriate bowl and hollow-form turning applications.
Users should ensure that any chuck, vacuum system, faceplate, or other accessory is properly rated and compatible with the lathe and the workpiece.
Typical Applications
The Laguna Revo 18|36 110V is suitable for:
- Bowl turning
- Spindle turning
- Furniture components
- Table and chair legs
- Decorative woodturning
- Large-diameter projects
- Long spindle projects
- Custom furniture
- Professional woodworking
- Advanced hobby woodworking
Benefits for Woodworkers
Large Turning Capacity
The 18-inch swing and 36-inch distance between centers provide enough room for both large bowl projects and longer spindle work.
Smooth Speed Adjustment
Electronic VFD control allows spindle speed to be adjusted across a broad 50–3,500 RPM range.
Strong Low-Speed Performance
The VFD-driven induction motor provides useful torque at lower spindle speeds, which is especially valuable when working with larger-diameter pieces.
Stable Construction
The steel bed and cast-iron components provide a substantial platform that helps minimize unwanted movement and vibration.
Flexible Workholding
The threaded spindle, MT2 taper, indexing system, and vacuum-chuck compatibility provide multiple options for securing different workpieces.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps maintain the lathe's accuracy and performance.
- Keep the steel bed clean and free from accumulated sawdust
- Clean spindle and taper surfaces before installing accessories
- Inspect the drive belt periodically
- Check the tool rest for wear or damage
- Keep the headstock and tailstock locking surfaces clean
- Inspect electrical components and the power cord
- Verify that machine components are securely locked before operation
- Follow Laguna Tools' maintenance and lubrication instructions
- Disconnect electrical power before servicing or making adjustments

Important Specification Note
The Laguna Tools Revo 18|36 110V is the 1.5 HP version of the 18|36 platform. It should not be confused with the 220V version, which uses a 2 HP motor. Both versions share the 18-inch swing, 36-inch distance between centers, and 50–3,500 RPM overall speed range, but their electrical and motor specifications differ.
Laguna identifies the 110V model as MLAREVO 1836-110-150 and currently lists it with a 1.5 HP motor, 18-inch swing, and infinite variable speed from 50–3,500 RPM.
For installation, confirm that the workshop has the required 110V, 60 Hz electrical supply and 15-amp circuit, and provide sufficient floor space for the approximately 60 x 26 x 47-inch machine footprint.
