Specifications are based on Junsi DX8 documentation and current product documentation.
Dual-Channel Charging
The DX8 has two charging channels that can operate independently. In asynchronous mode, each channel can provide up to 30A, allowing two compatible battery packs to be managed separately.
For a single high-power battery pack, the channels can instead be configured in synchronous mode. In this configuration, both channels operate together and can provide up to 50A, subject to the overall 1,600W power limit and the capabilities of the connected DC power source.
Important: The two channels must be connected according to the manufacturer's synchronous-mode instructions. They must not be externally electrically connected while operating independently, as an incorrect connection can damage the charger.
Wide Battery Compatibility
The DX8 supports a broad range of rechargeable battery chemistries:
- LiPo
- Li-ion
- LiFe
- LiHV
- LTO
- NiZn
- NiMH
- NiCd
- Lead-acid/Pb
For lithium-based batteries, each channel supports packs from 1S through 8S. NiMH and NiCd packs can be configured up to 25 cells, while lead-acid batteries are supported up to 30V.
High-Power Charging
With up to 1,600W of charging power, the iCharger DX8 is designed for users who need considerably more charging capability than a conventional hobby charger.
The maximum 1,600W rating is dependent on the supplied DC input voltage and available input power. The charger itself does not contain an integrated AC power supply, so an appropriate external DC power source is required.
Advanced Discharge Functions
The DX8 provides several discharge options rather than limiting users to conventional internal-resistor discharge.
Regenerative Discharge
Regenerative discharge can return energy from the battery being discharged back into the charger's DC input source. The regenerative discharge capability is rated up to 1,600W, depending on operating conditions and configuration.
External High-Power Discharge
With a suitable external load, the DX8 can support up to 2,100W of additional discharge power. This provides substantially more discharge capability than the charger's internal 70W discharge rating.
Integrated Battery Balancing
For multi-cell lithium batteries, the integrated balancer monitors individual cell voltages and helps bring cells into balance during charging.
The DX8 provides up to 2A of balancing current per channel, with up to 4A total in supported synchronous operation. It also incorporates internal-resistance correction in its balancing calculations.
Internal Resistance Measurement
The charger can measure the internal resistance of a battery pack as well as the resistance of individual cells within supported lithium battery configurations. This provides useful information for evaluating battery condition and identifying cells whose performance may be deteriorating.
Internal-resistance measurement can be performed both online and offline, according to the operating mode.
LCD Display and Data Management
The 2.4-inch IPS LCD provides detailed operating information in a compact format. Depending on the selected function, the display can show:
- Battery voltage
- Charging/discharging current
- Power
- Capacity
- Internal resistance
- Temperature
- Elapsed time
- Operating status
The charger can store up to 64 parameter sets, while its microSD interface supports data import/export and additional data-management functions.
USB Type-C PD
A USB Type-C PD port is built into the DX8 and supports:
- 5V / 3A
- 9V / 2A
- 12V / 1.5A
This can be used for compatible USB-C PD devices and adds useful auxiliary charging capability to the charger.
Protection and Thermal Management
The DX8 incorporates multiple protection systems intended to help protect both the charger and connected batteries. These include protection against:
- Reverse polarity
- Over-current
- Over-voltage
- Input under-voltage
- Input under-current
- Excessive battery temperature
- Excess charging capacity
- Excessive operating time
- Excessive power
- Excessive internal temperature
The internal temperature sensor also regulates fan speed. If the charger becomes excessively hot, its output power can be reduced automatically, followed by shutdown if the temperature continues to rise.
Compact Design
Despite its high power rating, the DX8 measures only 97.5 x 128.5 x 40 mm and weighs approximately 440 g.
Its compact size makes it practical for portable RC setups, field charging stations, workshops, and hobby benches where space is limited.
Recommended Applications
The Junsi iCharger DX8 is well suited for:
- RC model aircraft
- RC cars
- RC boats
- High-capacity LiPo battery packs
- Battery testing
- Battery balancing
- Battery discharge analysis
- Battery maintenance
- Model-sport workshops
- High-power hobby charging setups
Important Power Requirement
The DX8 is a DC-input charger, not a self-contained AC charger. An external DC power supply capable of meeting the charger's voltage, current, and power requirements is necessary.
Users should also follow the battery manufacturer's recommended charging current and chemistry-specific settings. The DX8 manual specifically warns against charging damaged, swollen, leaking, or otherwise compromised batteries and emphasizes following the battery manufacturer's safety recommendations.
Why Choose the Junsi iCharger DX8 Duo?
The Junsi iCharger DX8 Duo 1-8S 50A 1600W DC Battery Charger is built for users who need high charging power, flexible battery chemistry support, and advanced battery-management functions in a compact package.
Its combination of dual-channel operation, 1,600W charging capacity, 50A synchronous operation, 8S lithium support, high-current balancing, regenerative discharge, internal-resistance measurement, data logging, and comprehensive protection makes it a powerful choice for demanding RC battery applications.
